TikTok is increasing its economic impact on content creators, small businesses, and digital entrepreneurs in the United Arab Emirates. According to TikTok’s first UAE Economic Impact Report, prepared in collaboration with Redseer Strategy Consultants, small and medium-sized enterprises supported by the platform generated approximately AED 1.1 billion ($300 million) in gross value added to the country’s economy in 2024. While these activities supported more than 7,000 jobs, they also contributed to the establishment of more than 10,000 businesses.

The findings of the report were shared as part of the UAE Forward Forum held at the Museum of the Future in Dubai. The event, attended by government representatives, industry experts, content creators, and entrepreneurs, addressed the digital economy, online safety, responsible innovation, and creator-led entrepreneurship.

TikTok LIVE Creates New Revenue Models

Kinda Ibrahim, Regional General Manager of Operations for TikTok EMEA, stated that content creators are at the heart of the platform. According to the report, one in four content creators identifies TikTok as the main reason they began creating content. Creators are turning their content activities into sustainable businesses through brand collaborations, TikTok One, in-platform monetization tools, and TikTok LIVE.

Tik Tok LIVE has enabled more than 3 million content creators in the UAE to broadcast live. It was reported that 75 percent of these creators generate income through live broadcasts. Through its collaborations with government institutions and other organizations, TikTok aims to enable more content creators to become entrepreneurs and develop sustainable revenue models.

TikTok Is Becoming a Discovery Platform for Retail

Tik Tok’s transformation from a short-video and entertainment platform into a discovery engine is also changing the interaction between brands and consumers. The platform’s recommendation system, which operates independently of follower count, enables new content creators to reach target audiences and build communities around themselves. This structure supports retail brands, e-commerce businesses, and creative ventures in introducing their products to new consumer groups.

Kinda Ibrahim stated that more than 80 million BookTok posts have been created worldwide and that this community has evolved into a global structure influencing book sales. She also said that the Learn on Tik Tok community, consisting of content on education, finance, science, food, and daily life, has grown organically.

The UAE Is a Strategic Market for TikTok

Tik Tok positions the UAE as one of its most important markets in the region. Ibrahim stated that the country attracts content creators from the region and different parts of the world thanks to its licensing systems, infrastructure, support programs, and regulatory policies. The company announced that it continues its work on the safety of young users, parental control tools, and community guidelines aligned with local cultural differences.
