Dubai CommerCity and Tencent Cloud Partner to Drive Digital Transformation in E-Commerce

Dubai CommerCity has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent Cloud to accelerate the digital transformation of e-commerce companies and enhance Dubai’s competitiveness in the digital economy. The agreement aims to facilitate access to cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and advanced digital technologies for e-commerce and retail companies in the region.

Dubai CommerCity, the first and leading free zone dedicated to e-commerce in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, operates as a joint venture between the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and Wasl Group. The agreement was signed during a visit to Tencent’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China. The signing ceremony was attended by Amna Lootah, Director General of Dubai CommerCity, and Rachel Xie, General Manager of Tencent Cloud MENA and General Manager of Operations, Channel Development and Marketing at Tencent Cloud International.

Under the cooperation agreement, Tencent Cloud’s products and services will be made available to companies registered in the free zone. The partnership aims to expand companies’ access to cloud computing infrastructure and digital solutions, improve operational processes, and support their expansion into new markets. The parties will also organize joint events, exhibitions, hackathons, and training workshops to promote the adoption of technology and strengthen knowledge sharing.

Dubai CommerCity Director General Amna Lootah: We Will Support Companies’ Expansion into New Markets

Amna Lootah, Director General of Dubai CommerCity, stated that partnerships established with global technology companies play an important role in developing Dubai’s digital commerce ecosystem. Lootah noted that, through the cooperation with Tencent Cloud, they aim to provide companies with technologies that increase operational efficiency, support innovation, and facilitate access to new markets. Emphasizing that the partnership aligns with their objectives of creating a business ecosystem that supports digital transformation, Lootah stated that the agreement is consistent with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double Dubai’s economy by 2033.

Tencent Cloud to Expand Artificial Intelligence and Cloud Infrastructure

Rachel Xie, General Manager of Tencent Cloud MENA, stated that the agreement would strengthen cooperation with companies in Dubai. Xie said they aim to make Tencent Cloud’s technological capabilities more accessible to businesses operating in the free zone and enhance companies’ efficiency and innovation capacity through advanced cloud computing and digital solutions.

Tencent Cloud, Tencent’s cloud technology division, provides services in artificial intelligence, data management, networking technologies, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure. The company operates across 25 regions, with 70 availability zones and more than 3,200 content delivery network (CDN) nodes worldwide. Tencent Cloud’s international partnerships cover more than 80 markets.

The agreement forms part of DIEZ’s efforts to increase businesses’ access to advanced technologies, international expertise, and strategic partnerships within its economic zones. Aiming to strengthen Dubai’s position as a global trade hub, the cooperation seeks to contribute to the development of digital infrastructure for e-commerce and retail companies and support the growth of digital commerce.
