TikTok Launches Shopping Assistant and One-Click Checkout
TikTok has expanded its e-commerce ecosystem with an AI-powered Shopping Assistant and one-click checkout. The new features help users discover products, get real-time shopping information, and buy directly from brands without leaving the app.

TikTok has rolled out two new features that expand its e-commerce and retail shopping experience. While the platform makes product discovery easier with its AI-powered Shopping Assistant, it also enables users to purchase directly from brands through the For You feed with a one-click checkout system announced as “Buy Direct.” The features were reportedly launched initially for users and brands in the United States.
TikTok Shopping Assistant Remembers User Preferences
The new Shopping Assistant works as a conversational AI agent. The system can understand the context of the user’s conversation and remember the preferences and needs stated during the shopping process. Providing real-time information about product features, delivery, size options, and stock availability, the assistant can also help complete the purchase process.
Direct Purchase from the For You Feed
With the new payment feature, users can purchase products they encounter in TikTok’s algorithmic main feed, For You, with one click without leaving the app. The system aims to reduce the need to switch to external shopping websites or different AI tools.
The new shopping infrastructure was announced to have been developed with e-commerce and payment technology providers such as Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza, and Stripe. Through these integrations, product discovery, AI-powered question-and-answer processes, and payment are combined within a single shopping flow.
“Agentic Commerce” Beyond TikTok Shop
The integration of the new features into the main app separately from TikTok Shop takes the company’s e-commerce strategy beyond the marketplace model. Additional sources describe this approach under the term “Agentic Commerce,” while noting that the new features were announced as part of Advertising Week New York and are intended to reduce the number of steps between product discovery and payment in the shopping journey.
The platform’s growth in e-commerce is also reflected in the figures. According to eMarketer estimates, TikTok Shop generated approximately $15.8 billion in sales in the United States in 2025, accounting for around 18% of the country’s social commerce volume. According to the company’s Economic Impact Report, activity on the platform contributed to $81 billion in GDP for U.S. businesses, while 54 million Americans reported purchasing a product after watching a video.
With its new AI assistant and one-click checkout model, TikTok is bringing short-form video, product discovery, retail, and e-commerce transactions together within the same platform.
