TGSD

TGSD is a Professional Organization established in 1976 with the aim of creating the necessary environment for the development of the ready-made garment industry in Türkiye, leading the sector, promoting it abroad, and ensuring sectoral cooperation. By the Council of Ministers Decision dated 07.02.2003 and numbered 2003/5288, it was granted the status of a Public Benefit Association. TGSD member companies are among the sector’s leading exporters, carrying out a significant portion of exports, primarily to the EU and the USA.

TGSD became a member of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) in 1988, the International Colour Authority (INTERCOLOR) in 1996, the European Apparel and Textile Confederation (EURATEX) on June 6, 1997, and the Better Cotton Practices Association (İPUD) in 2017.

At the General Assembly Meeting held on January 28, 2025, Ümit Özüren and Toygar Narbay were elected as the Chairmen of TGSD’s 25th Term Board of Directors. Together with 24 dynamic Board Members who are experts and successful in their respective fields, TGSD successfully represents the Turkish ready-made garment sector before political authorities, bureaucracy, and international umbrella organizations abroad, in line with the TGSD vision and mission.

TGSD has always maintained close relations with textile vocational high schools and the textile design and engineering departments of universities, giving priority to joint projects in education, R&D, and productivity training.

Since 2008, TGSD has organized annually the “Istanbul Ready-Made Garment Conference,” formerly known as the “Istanbul Fashion Conference,” with the aim of bringing together the stakeholders of the ready-made garment production value chain, as well as fashion, design, accessories, retail, logistics, insurance, and machinery sectors on a business development platform within a spirit of solidarity. On the first day of this two-day event, which is the largest and only conference of the Turkish ready-made garment sector, numerous world-renowned experts and senior executives share their experiences with nearly 1,000 participants through speeches and presentations. On the second day, more than 1,000 business meetings are held on the B2B matchmaking platform where buyers and manufacturers come together. These business meetings make a significant commercial contribution to the sector every year.
