Burak Yalım

Burak Yalım is a senior executive, editor, and academic specializing in the global e-commerce ecosystem, international relations, civil society, and migration studies. Based in Dubai and the broader MENA region, he conducts international-level work across both academic and professional domains.

He completed his undergraduate studies in International Relations at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and earned his master’s degree with a thesis examining the impact of the dissolution of Yugoslavia on international politics. He began his doctoral studies at the International University of Sarajevo and later continued his PhD research in Migration Studies at Kocaeli University. His academic work focuses on global mobility, international talent flows, Balkan politics, and migration governance.

In his professional career, Burak Yalım is recognized for his leadership in global e-commerce and cross-border trade (e-export). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of WORLDEF, a global e-commerce platform that brings together key stakeholders of the digital commerce ecosystem. In addition, he holds the position of Secretary-General of the United E-Commerce Federation (UNIEF), where he leads international initiatives aimed at integrating and strengthening the global e-commerce ecosystem.

Alongside his professional and academic work, he has been actively involved in civil society initiatives supporting the development of young professionals in international relations and academia. He served as the founding president of the International Relations Studies Association and continues his voluntary and executive contributions through the TUİÇ Academy platform.

Through his multidisciplinary background spanning academia, international affairs, and digital commerce, Burak Yalım continues to contribute to the development of global e-commerce networks and international collaboration initiatives.
