Morocco Introduced the Export-Oriented Digital Commerce Platform eTrade.ma

eTrade.ma

Morocco launched the national B2B e-commerce platform eTrade.ma to enable exporting companies to reach international buyers more quickly. Launched by the Moroccan State Secretariat in charge of Foreign Trade, the platform aims to allow export-oriented companies to showcase their products digitally and connect directly with global buyers.

eTrade.ma, a New Step for Digital Foreign Trade

The launch of eTrade.ma was held with a ceremony at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. The ceremony was attended by Omar Hejira, State Secretary in charge of Foreign Trade, Abdelhadi Sohib, Director General of UM6P, representatives from Morocco’s export ecosystem, and executives from more than 50 exporting companies.

The Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade described eTrade.ma as a new step in the digital transformation process of the country’s foreign trade. Developed in collaboration with UM6P, the platform was positioned as a complementary tool to efforts aimed especially at accelerating digitalization within the scope of the 2025-2027 Foreign Trade Program.

Digital Marketing and Buyer Network for Exporters

The platform aims to reduce the obstacles faced especially by very small, small, and medium-sized Moroccan enterprises when expanding into international markets. According to the ministry, these obstacles include low visibility in foreign markets, limited access to international buyer networks, insufficient use of digital marketing tools, and the complexity of identifying export opportunities.

In the ministry’s statement, the goal of the initiative was expressed as providing “simpler, faster, and more effective” access to opportunities in global markets. This structure offers an infrastructure aimed at increasing exporters’ digital capacity in terms of e-commerce, digital marketing, data-driven product visibility, and adaptation to AI-powered trade tools in the future.

2027 Target for eTrade.ma: 1,000 Companies

The Moroccan government aims to include approximately 1,000 exporting companies on the platform through eTrade.ma by 2027. The platform is expected to generate additional export revenue exceeding 15 billion Moroccan dirhams.

Two cooperation agreements were also signed as part of the launch. The first agreement was signed between the State Secretariat in charge of Foreign Trade, PortNet S.A., OCP Foundation, and UM6P, and aims at the technical integration of eTrade.ma with Morocco’s national single window system for foreign trade transactions. The second agreement was signed with Barid Al-Maghrib Group, Chronopost International Maroc, UM6P, and OCP Foundation; it focuses on developing integrated logistics services for platform users.

The Global B2B E-Commerce Market Is Growing

eTrade.ma will first be made available with a pilot version and will later be gradually opened to all Moroccan exporting companies. The ministry stated that the global B2B e-commerce market stood at approximately 28 trillion dollars in 2026 and is expected to exceed 105 trillion dollars by 2033.
