TikTok Shop Launches Cross-Border E-Commerce Between Europe and the United Kingdom
TikTok Shop is preparing to roll out a new cross-border sales model that will expand its e-commerce operations across Europe. Under the new system, sellers in the United Kingdom will be able to reach consumers in 12 European countries, while sellers in eight European Union countries will be able to offer products to the UK market. Following a pilot program set to begin with selected sellers on September 21, 2026, the system is planned to be made available on a broader scale on October 19, 2026.
TikTok Shop Opens 12 European Markets to UK Sellers
Under the new program, UK-based sellers will be able to sell in Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czechia, Austria, Greece, Portugal, and Hungary. TikTok Shop will determine eligibility by evaluating the seller’s current account status and performance in real time. Sellers will need to be active in the United Kingdom, have an account in good standing, have completed sales within the past 30 days, and not have a significant negative balance.
Businesses whose applications are accepted will be able to manage their UK and EU stores through a single interface. However, payments, settlement processes, and local campaigns will be handled separately for each market. In some product categories, additional information or regulatory compliance documentation may also be required.
European Sellers Will Be Able to Sell in the United Kingdom
Eligible sellers in Belgium, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, and Spain will also be able to reach consumers in the United Kingdom. TikTok Shop, which has been operating in the UK for approximately five years, is reported to be used by more than 300,000 small businesses in the country. For sales from the EU to the UK, the “Ship by Seller” model will be applied; the seller will be responsible for carrier selection, shipping costs, and any customer issues that may arise during delivery.
Artificial Intelligence and a Content-Driven Retail Ecosystem
The new cross-border structure expands the reach of the platform’s content-driven e-commerce model across Europe. While TikTok combines product discovery with shopping through short videos, livestreams, and content creators, it also provides sellers with artificial intelligence-powered product listing and advertising optimization tools.
The platform’s AI-powered tools can be used for processes such as generating product information, campaign optimization, and performance measurement. In this way, retail businesses can manage content creation and sales operations within the same digital ecosystem.
