Sales by German SMEs Exceeded €20 Billion
Germany-based SMEs achieved sales exceeding €20 billion through Amazon in 2025. Cross-border e-commerce sales accounted for €5.9 billion of this amount. The main export markets were France, Austria, Italy, the United States, and Spain.
German sellers sold more than 750 million products throughout the year. This volume, equivalent to more than 1,400 products sold per minute, was generated by more than 40,000 SMEs in the country. The company identified international growth, the use of artificial intelligence, and the reduction of bureaucracy as areas for business development.
Belgium Sets €2 Billion Export Target for 2030
Amazon signed a memorandum of understanding with the Belgian Federal Government and the e-commerce federation Becom. Under the agreement, Belgian SMEs are expected to achieve cumulative export sales exceeding €2 billion through the platform by the end of 2030.
Belgian Minister of Economy David Clarinval stated that the collaboration aims to reduce barriers to cross-border trade and facilitate businesses' access to international markets. Becom Managing Director Greet Dekocker announced that they would focus on developing SMEs' digital skills and supporting their export processes.
The program will provide AI-powered product listing, advertising content creation, automatic translation, and logistics services. The company's planned investments of more than €1 billion in Belgium by 2027 will also support these efforts.
Belgian Sellers' Exports Outside the EU Stood Out
Exports by Belgian SMEs through Amazon exceeded €400 million in 2025. More than 90% of businesses on the platform engaged in international sales, while more than 75% shipped products to other European Union countries.
While sales to EU countries exceeded €190 million, more than half of total export revenues were generated from markets outside the bloc. Businesses in Flanders exported more than €230 million, those in Wallonia more than €125 million, and those in Brussels more than €50 million.
Belgian businesses shipped more than 10 million products in total, while employment created to support the online operations of SMEs on the platform exceeded 3,000 people.
