Amazon India announced that the number of sellers on its e-commerce marketplace has surpassed 2 million. More than 300,000 new sellers joined the platform over the past 12 months, marking the company’s strongest annual seller growth in the last three years. The growth was driven by lower selling fees, increased use of artificial intelligence-powered tools, and investments in logistics infrastructure.
Amazon India Expands Its Seller Network with 300,000 New Businesses
At the beginning of 2026, the company introduced new fee adjustments across more than 125 million products and implemented a zero referral fee policy for products priced below 1,000 rupees. Aruna Daryanani, Director of Selling Partner Services at Amazon, stated that the company is focused on making the selling process more accessible for businesses of all sizes. Daryanani said that lower fees, artificial intelligence tools, and data-driven insights were developed to simplify sellers’ daily operations.
Use of AI-Powered Seller Assistant Increased 7.5-Fold
Seller interactions with Amazon India’s AI-powered Seller Assistant increased 7.5-fold year-on-year. The number of sellers using the tool is doubling every six months, while more than 200,000 sellers are using artificial intelligence-powered product listing tools. The share of advertisers using AI-powered advertising tools increased by 77 percent, while small and medium-sized businesses created 62 percent more ad creatives with artificial intelligence in the first quarter of 2026.
In addition, more than 28,000 sellers are using Product Opportunity Explorer to research new product opportunities, while more than 69,000 businesses have used Sale Event Planner for inventory and pricing planning ahead of major retail campaigns.
160,000 Employment Opportunities for the Festival Season
Amazon India created more than 160,000 direct and indirect seasonal employment opportunities across its nationwide operations network ahead of the upcoming festival season. The employment network covers a total of 400 cities, including tier-two and tier-three cities such as Varanasi, Kochi, Ranchi, and Gorakhpur. The company is also organizing more than 20 Seller Connect and Ads Hive events in areas including catalog optimization, inventory planning, fulfillment, and advertising.
Logistics and Retail Infrastructure Is Expanding
Amazon India’s logistics network consists of fulfillment centers across 17 states, sortation centers across 20 states, and approximately 2,000 last-mile delivery stations operated by Amazon or its partners. The company continues its efforts toward its goal of equipping 15 million businesses with advanced technology capabilities by 2030.
