Meta has launched a new app called “Seller,” developed for users who sell products through Facebook Marketplace. Equipped with AI-powered tools, the app brings together processes such as creating listings, managing customer messages, tracking inventory, and reviewing sales performance on a single platform.
After launching Marketplace nearly 10 years ago in response to increasing shopping activity in Facebook groups, Meta aims to expand its social media-based e-commerce services with Seller. Approximately 430 million product listings are published on Facebook Marketplace worldwide every month.
Seller Will Sync With Existing Marketplace Accounts
The Seller app will work in synchronization with users’ existing Facebook Marketplace accounts. Selle rs’ active listings, customer messages, and past sales information will be automatically transferred to the new app.
The app also includes a shared inbox where conversations with buyers can be tracked from a single screen. In addition, sellers will be able to manage their inventory and monitor their sales processes by reviewing performance data.
AI Support in the Listing Preparation Process
The AI tools available within Seller enable product listings to be prepared more quickly. After users upload product photos, Meta AI can create an automatic draft consisting of a product description, category, and listing details.
The system can also evaluate similar listings in the seller’s region and suggest a price for the product. Meta AI can also prepare automated responses to be sent to buyers by using listing information such as the product’s stock status, pickup location, and price.
Meta Launches Facebook Verified Badge for Security
Along with Sell er, Meta is also introducing a free verification badge called “Facebook Verified.” The verification process, which will indicate that the profile is managed by a real person, will be carried out through a selfie-based method. With the new badge, the company aims to reduce concerns regarding security and user identity on Facebook Marketplace.
The Seller app was initially released through the App Store for iPhone users aged 18 and over in the United States. Testing of the web version is also continuing for users who have downloaded the app.
